The Great Mystery
The Great Mystery
Years and years ago, this dahlia was sold to me as "Old Gold". Unfortunately that turned out to be the incorrect variety. I have spent the last few years obsessing with identifying it, and to my dismay I have never been able to come to a conclusion on it. I can tell you it is not: Harry Meggos, Philip Campos, Jane Cowl, Hamari Gold or Ben Huston. I have grown each of those and compared side by side. While it is close to Ben Huston, some nuanced differences in the petals make me believe this not it. It is an incredible producer, tubers hold well in storage and flowers are 7-8" showstoppers on 48" tall plants.
The farm that sold this to us went out of business years ago and have been unable to help identify it.
