THE FLOWER HAT STORE

DAHLIA SALE FAQ

SECURING TUBERS IN YOUR CART
Putting a tuber in your cart does not reserve it. Not until you successfully checkout is your order secured. I highlight this, put it in bold, AND underline it every year, but it’s still the #1 question we get every year: Why did some tubers disappear from my cart?

The e-commerce platform updates inventory based on the tubers it needs to fulfill completed orders, making some unavailable. If there is a variety you want, I encourage you to be quick, add them to your cart, and checkout. As an added note: we can not combine orders, but at least you will get what you want.

SHIPPING ADDRESS
Please ensure your shipping information is correct! In the past, we have had several packages returned because of invalid or incorrect information on delivery addresses: Zip code, State, and House Number. We want to get your dahlias to you quickly and securely. New shipping fees will apply if we have to reship your order due to an incorrect or incomplete address.

WHEN DOES THE SALE BEGIN?
The sale starts on our website on March 4th, 2024, at 10 AM MDT. That’s noon Eastern, 11 AM Central, and 9 AM Pacific. Shipping begins mid-April. All payments and orders are handled exclusively through the website.

HOW MUCH IS SHIPPING?
Regardless of the size of your order or where we are sending it, shipping will be a flat rate of $17 on your order. So order as many as you like, but please remember we can not combine orders.

CAN I SHIP TO A P.O. BOX?
We will ship exclusively through UPS this year for the continental United States, as we've found great delivery consistency. They cannot deliver to P.O. Boxes.

For our friends in Hawaii and Alaska, USPS is our only option for shipping, so if you have a P.O. Box address in these two states, we will facilitate that for you.

DO YOU ACCEPT PAYPAL?
Yes, we accept Paypal and all major Credit Cards. We don’t accept Venmo or checks. All aspects of the sales are handled online.

CAN I RESERVE 20 CORALIE TUBERS?
We are not able to reserve any tubers of any variety for anyone.

DO YOU SELL TUBERS OR CLUMPS?
We sell individual tubers, and tubers are priced per unit. Some tubers may clumped together with one or more tubers depending on the size of the tuber, but we still consider that "one" tuber.

DO YOUR TUBERS MAKE BIG BLOOMS?
Dahlias will only bloom as big as their variety, hence their official classification by size. For example, a Sweet Nathalie bloom is usually 5” wide; nothing you do to the plant will make it 9”.

If you want big blooms, search for the dinner plate dahlias. Photos can be misleading regarding size, so please research the dahlia varieties you’re interested in. We try to add descriptions to as many varieties as possible to help you narrow down your shopping process.

I GOT SOME SMALL TUBERS. WILL THEY GROW?
We are growing tubers in beautiful Bozeman, MT, in the heart of the Northern Rocky Mountains. Our soil is rocky; unfortunately, not all plants make big tubers. Some varieties, like Tam Tam and Waltzing Mathilda, don’t make big tubers. It’s their nature and DNA.

That being said, the size of a tuber does not define your plant's health. Every tuber we sell will grow into a healthy plant and bloom beautifully. We try to provide our customers with the best, healthiest tubers we can, and sizes can vary. We do not offer refunds based on the size of a tuber.

WILL YOU DO ANY RESTOCKING?
Yes, once we’re done fulfilling and shipping all orders, there’s a chance we may add more stock later in the spring. We will notify you via Instagram and the email newsletter.

REPLACEMENTS & REFUNDS
We try to account for loss with a reasonably conservative margin during storage. However, sometimes, the loss between the sale and ship date is more significant than expected, causing a shortage in supply at the time of shipping. This is rare, but it can happen.

In the unlikely event that this was to happen, you will be asked if you’d like a refund or a replacement for a similar variety during checkout should we have crop failure on certain dahlias before shipping. We will refund you if you choose a substitution and we do not have a similar variety to ship. We appreciate your understanding as we deal with Mother Nature.

REFUNDS
Please inspect your tubers upon arrival and contact us should you have any issues when you receive your tubers (info@theflowerhat.com is the best way to contact us. Please do not send Direct Messages on Social Media about your order).

All refunds, with no exception, should be followed by pictures. We will only refund with pictures. All tubers should grow within the season and bloom. If your tuber does not grow by July 15th, 2024, don't hesitate to contact us and send photos. You will receive a store credit for the value of the tuber that didn’t grow that you can spend for the following year. We do not refund tubers planted in pots, as we recommend planting your tubers in the ground. We do not offer refunds based on the size of the tubers.

DO YOU SHIP TO CANADA?
We’re only able to ship within the United States at this time.

CAN YOU SHIP MY TUBERS EARLY?
Under no circumstance will we ship before mid-April. If that’s a concern for you, please consider that before buying. Again, the weather determines when we can start shipping, but we aim to begin on April 15th, 2024.

I PLACED MULTIPLE ORDERS. CAN YOU COMBINE THEM?
We are not able to combine orders. Each order will be shipped individually. You can place as many orders as you’d like, but they will all be sent separately.

SHIPPING CONFIRMATION
When we print the shipping label, you will receive a tracking number for your order(s). To increase efficiency, we may print multiple if not all, shipping labels on the same day. However, it may take us days to get your order, pack it, and hand it off for shipping. So if you don’t see your order moving along, it simply means we haven’t packed it yet.

HOW MUCH DO FLOWER HAT TUBERS COST?
Based on variety, our selection ranges from $8 to $25 per tuber.

DO YOU OFFER BULK OR WHOLESALE PRICING?
We do not have a bulk or wholesale program at this time.

Our Guarantee

By buying our bulbs or tubers, you agree that, at the time of shipping, all bulbs or tubers were healthy. The Flower Hat is not responsible for bulbs or tubers that do not grow due to varying weather conditions, poor handling and/or planting care, and any other factors beyond our control. We are also not responsible for tubers or bulbs that do not grow because they were planted in pots. We do not recommend planting bulbs or tubers in pots. Because all labels are humanly handled, there's a chance that a very small number of bulbs or tubers may be mislabeled, even though we do our very best to keep everything organized, by handling one variety at a time. In the event that you received a variety you did not order, please let us know once the tuber or bulb blooms. Claims received after the blooming season will not be accepted. You will receive a credit for our store for the dollar amount you paid for that tuber for next year's sale. ALL claims must be accompanied by photos.

Inspect your tubers or bulbs upon receipt and notify us immediately of any issues, by sending an email containing photos to info@theflowerhat.com. Should there be any issues upon arrival, we will try to replace the items, if stock is available. If not, we will refund you.

In the event that, after following our planting instructions attached to your order, your bulbs do not grow, please notify us by the end of the plant's natural growth cycle by emailing photos to info@theflowerhat.com. You will receive a credit to the store for the following year's sale in the amount of the bulb that did not sprout.

For dahlia tuber customers, we do not accept claims for tubers you think are "small". All tubers will grow into healthy plants and bloom, regardless of size. We grow dahlias in the Rocky Mountains and the soil is Rocky. The clumps don't have a chance to produce large, "pageant" tubers, but that doesn't make them less viable. Also, some varieties are notorious for making small tubers, and we can't control that, nor can we control the composition of our soil.
