Cafe Au Lait

Café au Lait is one of the most iconic dahlias I grow, and for good reason. The large, dinnerplate blooms open in a soft blend of blush, cream, and warm beige, with each flower shifting slightly in tone — no two are ever exactly the same. It has that signature romantic, almost antique quality that has made it a staple in wedding work, especially for soft, neutral palettes. While the blooms are undeniably stunning, it can be a bit more temperamental in the field, with variable production and more delicate stems compared to smaller varieties. That said, when it performs, it’s hard to beat — and it continues to be one of the most requested and recognizable dahlias in design.
